Travel Vaccinations
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries - and areas within countries - that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
For further information about countries and vaccinations required, please click here.
You can also find general travel advice e.g. sun safety, travelling with a long term condition etc. in the patient information leaflet here.
The travel vaccination service is only provided at Cherry Hinton Medical Centre due to stock control requirements.
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel. Last minute travellers may not be able to be accommodated due to lack of appointments and we recommend you go directly to private clinics.
Please note that not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS. Those included, if clinically recommended by the trained Practice Nurse, are diphtheria, tetanus, polio, typhoid, hepatitis A and cholera. We do not offer private vaccinations or private prescriptions for anti-malarial tablets.
There are plenty of private vaccination services available locally such as at some pharmacies, the MASTA travel clinic etc, often providing a cheaper service than we were previously able to offer. These changes are non-negotiable and comply with contractual obligations.
