Who can help you?
There are a number of resources available to you when you are unwell to offer care and advice. You may not always need to see a GP. Please see this NHS video that explains the options to you.

By helping yourself with self-care, and selecting the most appropriate service you are helping us use the NHS resources we have available to best look after our whole population and ensure patients who need to see a GP can do so in a timely way. The practice nurses will also be able to help with everyday health issues, please see below.
The appointment system is set up so that you will always be able to see or talk to a clinician on the same day you contact us for acute or urgent conditions. You are able to pre-book appointments two days and two weeks ahead with the GPs and up to 4 weeks in advance with the Practice Nurses.
To make an appointment you can either:
- Telephone the surgery
- Use our online booking facility (for which you must initially apply to the practice for a PIN number). Click here for more information and the appropriate forms. Please note this service is temporarily suspended during the trial of our new appointment system.
- Visit us at either site (Fishers Lane or Seymour Street)
It is preferable for you to see your usual doctor for any on-going conditions and we recommend getting familiar with a couple of GPs if your preferred GP is part-time. However, if your problem is urgent and your doctor is not available, you will be given an appointment with the first available doctor that day.
Please note, routine appointments are for ten minutes and for one person only. If you are late for your appointment we may ask you to re-book.
Advanced Prescribing Nurse Practitioner (ANP) / Prescribing Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP)
Please consider an appointment with our ANP/ ECP rather than a doctor, it is usually quicker to get an appointment with this team. They can issue prescriptions and see children and adults for things such as Chest infections, ENT (sore throat, ear ache), Colds and flu, cough, fever, temp, UTI, temp, rash/eczema (not moles), hayfever, conjuctivitus, stye, FB, bites, infected cuts/grazes/wounds, vomiting/diarrhoea,nose bleed, vaginal discharge, mastitis, wrists/ankles/knees/feet problems. This team works alongside a GP so you can be seen by a GP if necessary. The ANP/ECP clinics are available everyday. Appointments are available on the day or to book in advance.
As an alternative to an appointment we are able to offer telephone advice. Please advise the receptionist of your problem and they will arrange for an appropriate clinician to contact you.
